Dead Space Series Is On Ice Yet Again As Ideas For New Game Last Year Reportedly Fizzled Out

Electronic Arts has put the Dead Space franchise on ice yet again following the release of last year’s critically acclaimed Dead Space Remake, according to a report on Bloomberg.

While the team at EA Motive Studio did apparently begin drafting ideas for a new entry in the sci-fi horror series last year, nothing was ever green lit and the team have since moved on to other projects. Dead Space Remake’s sales failed to hit EA’s internal expectations despite its strong critical reception.

The news comes in wake of claims from Jeff Grubb that a Dead Space 2 Remake was in development before being shelved, something which both EA and Jason Schreier have since refuted.

Motive Studio is now working on its Iron Man video game as well as aiding EA’s Battlefield franchise, which means if we are going to see a new Dead Space or another remake, it won’t be for a while yet.

Dead Space Remake was released in January 2023 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. The original Dead Space launched in 2008 and was developed by EA Redwood Shores, later renamed Visceral Games, and spawned two sequels before lacklustre sales put the franchise on ice for a decade.
