Humble situation hits Squid Shock’s Bõ: Path of the Teal Lotus

Squid Shock, the studio behind Bõ: Path of the Teal Lotus, has said that the situation with publisher Humble Games has impacted its release.

In a post on Twitter, the developer said that it was turning to Patreon to help finance continued work on the game as it won’t have the level of post-launch support that it was promised by Humble. The game was released on July 17th.

Squid Shock has also lost access to “the pipeline of critical systems” which has made it impossible to update or do QA on the console versions of the game. The studio does have access to the Steam edition and has managed to update it this week.

Though it’s clear that Humble’s shutdown – or restructuring, as the company has chosen to put it – has had a huge impact on  Bõ: Path of the Teal Lotus, Squid Shock has said that it has no ill will to the individuals it had worked with at the company.

“Our launch was not without its challenges, our publisher shutting down has meant we have missed out on critical post-launch support which may put our studio’s future at risk,” the studio wrote.

“We want to make it crystal clear that this was in no way the fault of the Humble Games team we worked with. It is just a sad time in the industry and ultimately, we understand.”
