Video game fans always look to fall as a special time of year, because there’s almost always a string of major releases timed for the holiday season to come.
2024 has already been a year of big releases, but rather than being the calm before the storm, September 2024 was an equal part of the storm with big releases that each had a hand in boosting game sales in Europe 20%.
As reported by GamesIndustry.Biz, a whopping 17.6 million games were bought in the EU across PC and consoles, with plenty of the sales charged by a few regular high-sellers.
EA Sports FC 25 topped the sales charts, though surprisingly it was 2018’s The Crew 2 that jumped to second place (it’s less surprising considering it was basically given away as part of a promotion from Ubisoft).
Sports games and a free game aren’t the only things that boosted sales though. It’s expected that EA Sports FC will be a strong seller each year, but it was Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 and Astro Bot that defined the month more than a new entry in an annualized series.
Both games even hit above NBA 2K25 in the top 10 list, which came in at sixth place. You can check out the full top ten list, below.
