Dragon’s Dogma 2 PS5 Pro Update Out Now

The PS5 Pro‘s launch is quickly approaching, and many developers have begun implementing updates that utilize the new consoles technology. This now includes Capcom, as the publisher has pushed the Dragon’s Dogma 2 PS5 Pro update today.

What is the Dragon’s Dogma 2 PS5 Pro update?

Like most PS5 Pro updates, Dragon’s Dogma 2 will now have graphics options dedicated to the enhanced console. Here are the new features added with the new update according to the patch notes:

  • Adding PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution to the Graphics section of the Options menu.
  • Adding “Balanced” as a selection under Graphics Quality in the Graphics section of the Options menu.

Back in June, Dragon’s Dogma 2 got an update that added some simple graphics options. Graphics Quality options could be chosen between “low” and “high” with the option to toggle ray tracing and motion blur. It also introduce 120 Hz support for PS5 if players had a compatible display. It seems with this new update, PSSR will be its own toggle similar to the ray tracing and motion blur toggles.

This seems to deviate from some of the other PS5 Pro enhanced graphics modes that have recently been implemented. For example, Spider-Man 2 and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart include a performance pro and fidelity pro modes. These have specific resolution, graphics, and frame rate targets built in to the graphics mode. Dragon’s Dogma 2’s PS5 Pro graphics mode seems to be a simple toggle for its machine learning tech, and then players can choose which graphics, frame rate, and other visual settings they want to toggle on.

The update also makes some other modifications and fixes to the game. Here is the rest of the fixes listed in the patch notes:

  • Fixing issue during “Nesting Troubles” where throwing the jar of poison into the saurian nest would not progress the quest.
  • Fixing issue where Pawns of the Calm or Straightforward inclination would cease all activity after failing to use “Levitate”.
  • Fixing issue where the minimap would repeatedly zoom in and out while passing through the Hermit’s Retreat.
  • Fixing issue where the power of the spell “Maelstrom” was drastically increased when Myrddin was fighting with the player’s party.
  • Fixing issue where no sound effect would play when switching categories in the Character Creator.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is just one of over 80 video games receiving dedicated PS5 Pro enhancements. The new and improved console is set to launch on November 7, 2024, and costs $699.99.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 launched for PS5 back in March. PlayStation LifeStyle gave the game a 9/10 in our review. Nicholas Tan wrote, “fans of the first Dragon’s Dogma will understand how unusual this world can be for newcomers, and this sequel successfully builds upon what made the original game a cult classic.”
