Red Barrels, the studio behind the Outlast franchise has announced that those waiting for The Outlast Trials to arrive on consoles will have to wait a little longer, as the team is now targeting an “early 2024” release window.
There’s no specific date yet, but in its latest community update from the developer on the game’s Steam page, Red Barrels made sure to include that the game will be launching on PS5 and PS4, when it does come to console platforms.
Red Barrels is also intending to launch on consoles with cross-play working with PC players from the onset, though it can’t say that’ll happen for certain.
“We are actively working on fulfilling a major request: bringing the game to consoles” the studio began in its console update.
“Our aim is to ensure that the unique social experience of The Outlast Trials can be shared across platforms, despite the technical complexity it requires. Our progress is promising, but we can’t provide a console release date or guarantee universal cross-play just yet.”
At the very least while we’re nearing the end of 2023, early 2024 doesn’t seem too far off. Hopefully we’ll be able to get more information soon.
