Alien: Isolation sequel in development at Creative Assembly
Today marks the 10th anniversary of Alien Isolation, and in a statement posted to the game’s official X account, creative director Al Hope confirmed the news of a sequel.
“It’s hard to believe that it has been ten years since we embarked on our journey with the release of Alien: Isolation,” said Hope. “When we started developing Alien: Isolation, we had one guiding principle: to create a truly authentic experience that went back to the roots of the Alien franchise — a new story capturing the atmosphere and terror of the original 1979 movie masterpiece.
“It’s been nothing short of incredible to witness your passion for the game over the years and see it reach so many players around the world.
“On the 10th anniversary, it seems only fitting to let you know that we have heard your distress calls loud and clear. Today, I’m delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development. We look forward to sharing more details with you when we’re ready.”
Alien: Isolation is considered one of the best survival horror games ever created, and fans have been clamoring for a sequel since it first launched way back in 2014. Alien: Isolation, which is set 15 years after the events of Alien, has you play as Ellen Ripley’s daughter Amanda, who sets out to find the truth behind her mother’s disappearance aboard the space station Sevastopol. Ripley, who becomes separated from her team, soon finds that an alien creature is wreaking havoc across, and to survive, she’ll need to avoid and outsmart the creature while making her way through the station. Considering how Isolation ends, it will be interesting to see which direction Creative Assembly takes with the sequel.
Alien: Isolation was included in Game Pass for a whopping four years before it left the service last year. If you haven’t yet played this gem of a game, you can currently pick up Alien: Isolation – The Collection, which includes all DLC released for the game, for $7.49 / £6.74 / €7.49. However, this sale does end soon.
