The next instalment in The Dark Pictures franchise has been announced by Supermassive Games, with Directive 8020 set to launch in 2025 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
Starring Lashana Lynch as astronaut Young, Directive 8020 offers a major step forward for the franchise, with persistent real-time threats and stealth gameplay mechanics evolving the traditional Dark Pictures experience. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, Directive 8020 opens as a colony ship named Cassiopeia crash lands on the planet Tau Ceti f, a safe haven for humanity looking for a new place to call home.
However, the crew soon find out that they are not alone, and a malevolent alien organism begins to hunt them down through the dark corridors of the ship. Players will have to survive by using improvised weapons, fast reflexes, and stealth tactics, but it won’t be easy as your deadly foe has the ability to imitate its prey.
