Is God of War Ragnarok Steam Deck compatible? Despite some recent wobbles for PS5 ports on Valve’s handheld, God of War: Ragnarok has come through with the highest seal of approval for its performance on the Steam Deck.
God of War Ragnarok is finally on PC, and I’m sure owners of the Steam Deck OLED will be eager to play it on the handheld, especially now that it’s Verified rating for the best handheld gaming PC. However, despite the excitement surrounding its launch, God of War is still facing negative feedback for its forced implementation of the Sony account linking.
Is God of War Ragnarok Steam Deck compatible?
God of War Ragnarok is officially Verified for Steam Deck and performance is great on Valve’s handheld.
The God of War Ragnarok system requirements initially looked a little intimidating for this aging handheld especially when I used the recent release of Horizon Forbidden West to predict how Ragnarok’s release will play out.
Thankfully, God of War Ragnarok supports AMD FSR 3.2, meaning resolution upscaling is available to boost frame rates on the Steam Deck, and despite it not working too well at lower frame rates, frame generation is also present.
Horizon Forbidden West was released at a similar time to Ragnarok on PS5, and although it’s possible to get it running on the Steam Deck, the tinkering required in the settings menu is deemed too much for Valve, and it remains ‘Unsupported’ to this day. I initially feared God of War Ragnarok might be heading for the same fate, but instead, it’s been given the green tick of approval for the Steam Deck.
Ghost of Tsushima was also rated as Unsupported for Steam Deck, but this was due to issues with an online co-op mode. God of War Ragnarok will require a PSN account link to play but has no other online features that will prevent it from working on Steam Deck.
