Microsoft CEO has “no love” for console-exclusive games

As reported by The Verge, Satya Nadella blames Sony and its PlayStation exclusives for defining the market, and it’s a world he has “no love for.” The CEO gave his testimony during Microsoft’s continued trial with the FTC, discussing internal gaming targets, Microsoft’s cloud gaming strategy, and more.

“If it was up to me, I would love to get rid of the entire exclusives on consoles, but that’s not for me to define especially as a low-share player in the console market,” Nadella said. “The dominant player there [Sony] has defined market competition using exclusives, so that’s the world we live in. I have no love for that world.”

In other news from the FTC trial, PlayStation boss Jim Ryan said that publishers “unanimously” dislike Xbox game Pass, Xbox Series X|S sales were apparently sacrificed for Xbox Cloud Gaming, a list of studios Microsoft considered buying was revealed, and more.
