Microsoft Kinect takes on a huge responsibility. It is the only motion gaming device that offers controller free gaming. There are a few issues, but when everything works correctly it produces an experience unlike any other. Here is my must read review of the Microsoft Kinect.

Pros

Kinect without a doubt is the most advanced gaming controller on the market. It takes some the most popular gaming genres to a placed not realized. Especially in the sports, dance, and workout categories. It definitely has me excited about what games are coming on the Xbox 360 that will work with Kinect. I love the way you can navigate the menus with your hand like a futuristic movie. Being able to talk to your Xbox 360 to turn on, or with just a wave of your hand pick your favorite movie. It seems to make your Xbox 360 almost edgy. An experience that the Wii or PlayStation Move just can’t offer using a controller. The Microsoft Kinect technology keeps track of everything going on in the room including your facial features. Even has the ability to recognize an individual person using Kinect ID. Last but not least the mic on your Kinect gets rid of the headset of old. You can do video chat too with the camera.

Cons

Some of the same things that make the Microsoft Kinect great can cause issues. Being a motion gaming system without a controller it takes a lot of room to play. You’ll need at least 6 feet, and more if you’re playing with more than one person. So be ready to move some furniture out-of-the-way to get the most out of it. It seems to have some issues with playing with more than one person at times. You can’t be to close together doing play or it will interrupt your game play. Another negative is there seems to be some lag when playing some of the games. It needs to be a little more precise at times. Lighting is very important. Don’t expect to play your Kinect in dark conditions. The camera needs good lighting to recognize your movements properly.

With all of that being said Microsoft Kinect does offer what it promises bringing your family together in a gaming experience. I’m sure this angers the hardcore button pusher. It also offers futuristic experience with its ability to recognize voices, move through the menus with hand gestures. Also opens the door to many more gaming genres that you don’t see a lot of.
