Starbreeze will soon add an offline mode to Payday 3
As shared by Starbreeze via a recent Dev Blog, the offline mode will be added to Payday 3 in a beta state initially, which the devs plan to update over time. While it’ll finally give you the ability to take on the heists alone, the Solo Mode Beta does have a caveat, at least to start with: you’ll still need to be connected to Starbreeze’s servers to access it and save your progress.
“It’s not our full vision for this feature,” Starbreeze’s head of community and global brand director Almir Listo says. “For now, we’re setting it as a beta to see how it runs. We expect the performance to be affected since the parts normally frontloaded by our servers will now have to be run on your own hardware.
“It will work though, and you can get progression that will update you once you return online. You will still be required to start the game while online in Solo Mode, which will be improved once we improve this feature. For now though, we want to test that the features that went into this work properly.”
While it’s not a traditional offline mode just yet, at least we’ll be able to pull off a bank job on our own from tomorrow. As for other content included in the free Boys in Blue update, we’ll finally see Clover make a return as a free heister, as well as new weapons, cosmetics, and more. The free update will arrive alongside a new premium heist, aptly named Boys in Blue, which tasks you with breaking into a police station.
