Square Enix to bring more games to Xbox, says Final Fantasy 14 producer

This year, players on Xbox were finally able to start collecting the Final Fantasy 14 achievements, and the Xbox MMO game‘s arrival could be a turning point for Square Enix. According to the game’s director, Square Enix wants to “make the best” of Phil Spencer’s efforts in getting Final Fantasy 14 on Xbox by releasing more games on the platform.

More Square Enix games will be heading to Xbox in the future

Speaking with Eurogamer, Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida acknowledged that “the Final Fantasy fanbase on Xbox has reduced,” but views the game’s launch on Xbox as a chance to fix things. “We can take this opportunity to strengthen the community on Xbox towards the Final Fantasy franchise,” Yoshida said. “I think this is where we would take more communication and work on establishing the community moving forward. And this is important, not for Final Fantasy 14, but I would say, for Square Enix.”

Yoshida says Xbox Boss Phil Spencer “spent a lot of his time and a lot of effort” getting Final Fantasy 14 to launch on Xbox, so Square Enix “would like to make the best of that and further deepen the relationship with Xbox gamers moving forward.”

Earlier this year, Square Enix announced that it’s “aggressively” changing its policies around multiplatform releases, with plans to launch its games on more platforms in the future. Yoshida says the company wants “as many players as possible” playing its games, and Final Fantasy 14 appears to be a good place to start.

“With Final Fantasy 14 as the starting point, we do want to release more Square Enix games on Xbox, and there will be more of our titles released on Xbox,” Yoshida said. “So, I hope players will look forward to future things to come on the platform.”

In other Square Enix news, the company is bringing the latest entry in its popular Mana series to Xbox this week, and we now have the Visions of Mana Xbox achievements.
