Sony’s PSP PlayStation Portable Go GOODS and BADS

This device, especially with the newest release of PSP Go, will change the way you think about handheld portable devices forever. There’s no going back!

Sony has created a fully immersive 3-D gaming experience and so much more. The applications that this little device can do are both groundbreaking and massive. Of course, there are some things that could be better, but overall the PSP Go will satisfy even the most die hard gamer.

The first thing that you notice about the PSP PlayStation Portable Go is the size. The device weighs less than half a pound and is slightly bigger than a cell phone. Until you actually hold it, it’s hard to grasp just how tiny it is. It’s actually small enough to fit in your pocket, and many people do just that. The design is sexy, sleek and the sliding open control, which mimics many cell phone devices, is fun to use (and somewhat addicting!).

The screen is where the true power of the PSP comes into play. It’s brighter and much more vivid than previous versions. The games really pop on the screen, and the graphics rival that of the Playstation2. The size of the screen and bright LCD display is perfect for heavy gaming action, and viewing widescreen format movies.

The device is powered by a removable, and rechargeable, lithium ion battery. The PSN store has a wide selection of games and you can simply download them onto your device. You can even connect to your PS3, if you have one, for remote play (and also download games from there). Another great little feature is the ability to pause a game, and then go back to it at a later time.

Of course the PSP PlayStation Portable Go does much more than just gaming. When you but the Playstation portable, you’re really getting a complete multi media system. It has built in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for all your networking needs. The Bluetooth allows pairing with any headset, making Skype available for users. (Voices come in sparklingly clear.) You also have a massive amount of storage space on your PSP Go, with the option of adding even more. Video and digital music playback are other features of the device.

The most voiced complaint about the PSP Go is the absence of a UMD drive, which makes playing old UMD’s impossible. For someone who is new to gaming, this won’t really be a concern. For older gamers, the reality is that all gaming is moving to digital download, and everyone will have to eventually get on board with this shift.
